Quentin,

I see 1174 is requesting a deflate compression level parameter
for TIFF.  Providing the description or url to the bug would make
life somewhat easier for folks reading!

My original question was more to GDAL developers, asking what they were
working on and hoping to have completed.  Not so much a request for more
work for myself. :-)

So, I'm not adverse to a fix for 1174 if you wanted to propose a patch.
It isn't too high on my priority list though.
