[Gdal-dev] Import filter for Blender3D

Wondering if there has ever been discussion on using GDAL as import
filter for Blender (http://www.blender3d.org)? Seems it would be
relatively straight forward and I'm curious what GDAL community thinks
might be the best implementation methods (python)?
Also, would seem to benefit both communities. For Blender a world of
spatial data would be accessible (currently troublesome to import -
probably DXF at best). For GDAL users, a rendering, animation
compositing platform at their fingertips, along the lines of NViz, but
more for planners, game developers, (Blender has nice OSS game
development module), landscape architects, geographers, etc.
