[Gdal-dev] Problem reading shapefiles with upper and lowercase extensions, bug?

Hi list,

A colleague stumbled on the following problem: OGR failed to read the 
shapefile.PRJ associated to a shapefile.shp file. The workaround is 
simply renaming the ".PRJ" to lowercase. Shouldn't OGR read it whatever 
the case? Could this be considered a bug?
