[Gdal-dev] Coord ordering for given coord ref system?

Hi all!

 

It seems that there could be different axes ordering schemes based on
the used coord ref system. For example, EPSG:31466 specifies a
northing/easting ordering, whereas EPSG:31462 uses an easting/northing
ordering (see for example

onsliste_fuer_1-1.pdf, page 3, bottom right, in german).

 

Could this ordering information be retrieved from OGRSpatialReference?
How does GDAL/OGR handle such cases during vector data import?
