[gdal-dev] GDAL/OGR 1.4.4 Release Candidate 1 - NOT SO GOOD news

I don't know that you are being ignored, and what was submitted before
the release candidate was not a patch, but an entire source file.
Additionally, Frank has targeted this work until the 1.5 release, and
it is not for the 1.4 branch. The 1.5 beta is on the horizon shortly,
but these changes will not be backported to the 1.4 branch unless we
have a 1.4.5 branch and Frank determines that they are safe to backport.
