This worked in gdalhttp.py:

def http_1():

         drv = gdal.GetDriverByName( 'HTTP' )
	return 'skip'

         gdaltest.dods = None
         if gdal.GetDriverByName( 'DODS' ):
             gdaltest.dods = gdal.GetDriverByName('DODS')
