As far as I know Andrea Aime volunteered in the past as the java
bindings maintainer but then I am not sure if he stepped down or not.
Anyway me and Daniele would be interested in volunteering for
maintaing the java bindings, at least the raster side of them, since
we use them quite a lot (see https://imageio-ext.dev.java.net/) but I
am not sure which are the right steps to take or even if this is the
right way start with this proposal.
