Mike,

Just two days ago I compiled MrSID 7.0 on x86_64 against trunk and it  
worked quite well.  Give that combination a try and see if you can  
make any progress.   You'll have to say --with-jp2mrsid=no because the  
7.0 SDK doesn't have JP2 in it.
