[gdal-dev] Zip/Unzip

I see a Zip/Unzip API in GDAL cpl_minizip_ioapi.h and cpl_minizip_unzip inside port directory and would like to use it for purpose of creating kmz. Has anyone used those for zip/unzip? Any example/literature that someone can point me to would really help.

I would prefer going through the API rather than directly interact with minizip.
