For the record, unfortuanetely it won't help you much, but I don't reproduce 
the issues you're facing. The gdaltransform -s_srs EPSG:4326 -t_srs EPSG:3857 
< "WGS84.txt" >"Grid.txt" command just works fine for me. Perhaps an issue with 
your setup ?
