I've already answered on that to you recently ( 
http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/gdal-dev/2014-November/040540.html ). But 
perhaps I wasn't clear enough. No, there's currently no way to get that 
information. If it was avaialble, that would be through the metadata 
mechanism.
