[Geodata] GeoData Alliance?

Folks,

I'm not sure if the "GeoData Alliance" has been discussed here yet or not.
I'm not sure exactly what role they want to take on, or how it might relate
to us, but it seems worth a bit of investigation.

Their current projects include GeoDRM (not likely something we are
interested in) and what they call the "Open Data Consortium Project" which
sounds up our alley though it seems SDI focused.
