Hi Suchith,
Just thinking that we may also allow people in other regions of the world to respond before fixing a committee? Specifically to make sure we get buy in from labs around the world?
Ciao,
Jeroen

I would like to see that have the form of a competition where it would be great if ICA OSGeo labs would assist with the process of student applications and evaluation to come to a winner, second and third prize. First prize could indeed be a trip to the FOSS4G conference to receive the prize and present the winning work. If this is of interest I'm available to discuss details.

The award would be given to a student who promotes Open Geospatial in their education and research, and would be done in the name of the supporting organizations (ICA, ISPRS, OSGeo).
