[Geo4All] Early Career Support Programme For The RDA 8th Plenary, Denver , USA September 2016

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) was launched as a community-driven organisation in 2013 by the European Commission, the United States Government's National Science Foundation and National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Australian Government’s Department of Innovation with the goal of building the social and technical infrastructure to enable open sharing of data.

The RDA 8th Plenary meeting will be part of the International Data Week http://www.internationaldataweek.org/    From September 11-17, 2016, data professionals and researchers from all disciplines and from across the globe will convene in Denver, Colorado for International Data Week (IDW). The theme of this landmark event is ‘From Big Data to Open Data: Mobilizing the Data Revolution’.  As such, International Data Week will bring together data scientists, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and data stewards to explore how best to exploit the data revolution to improve our knowledge and benefit society through data-driven research and innovation.

RDA Europe has launched a new Call for applications for the Early Career support Programme for the RDA 8th Plenary to be held in Denver, CO, USA, 15 - 17 September 2016. At its 6th  edition, the aim of this programme is to introduce European early career researchers & scientists to RDA, highlight what data scientists / practitioners are doing, leverage on Early Career Researchers & Scientists knowledge to support Plenary 8 activities and support the Working Group and Interest Group activities.

Successful applicants are:

  *   invited to display a poster summarising their studies and areas of interest during the plenary meeting
  *   assigned a working group for which they are requested to attend the working meeting at the Plenary meeting
  *   asked to take notes and provide a summary of the meeting for internal use by the group members
  *   requested to write a publishable summary on the meeting to be posted as a blog / news piece on the RDA web site, referencing the applicant as the author directly

The applicants should satisfy the following criteria:

  *   Currently engaged in Bachelor, Masters, PhD or Post Doc studies
  *   Study is conducted in a higher education or research institution based in Europe
  *   Studies are of relevance & pertinence to RDA, and cover at least one of the Working or Interest Group subjects
  *   Previous programme winners should not re-apply

Interested candidates are invited to complete the on-line application form  by 5th June 2016, midnight CEST. All candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application after the 20th June 2016.
