Patrick:

We do have an easy way to join, as an OSGeo community project.

This does require interest (project's ask to join) rather respect (that we
offer to all grandmothers).

OSGeo as an organization has standards we ask all our projects to meet. As
an example communicating clearly how a project functions and how new
contributors can join. In reviewing you GitHub repository I was able to
find your contact details on the CONTRIBUTING.md
<https://github.com/NASAWorldWind/WebWorldWind/blob/develop/CONTRIBUTING.md>
instructions, but could not determine the other team members (unless it is
this GitHub list <https://github.com/orgs/NASAWorldWind/people>).

If it helps GRASS, would would be the matriarch of our community, also went
through incubation to work through communication goals such as these.
