8th Talk of the cycle *DISTant Talk: PhD behind the scene* – a series of
seminars organized by the PhD students of the DIST department of the
Politecnico di Torino. The talk will focus on the OpenStreetMap project,
highlighting the importance of the community and its role in the mapping
process. We will try to
understand who are the people joining the OpenStreetMap community and how
the social composition of such community can bias the information mapped.
Furthermore, the growing importance of the OSM project will be discussed: what
happens when a bottom-up project starts to attract the attention of big
corporations?
