Gary,

Are the Airports a points layer?  If so, looking into the mapserver documentation on TOLERANCE and TOLERANCEUNITS, basically you need to tell Mapserver to select within a given "buffer" around the points if it is a points layer.

if I add 'county' from the demo to my test site, the identify works on 
the 'county' file

What do I do now??
