[Geomoose-users] Select returning too many results

Unfortunately, there is no cut & dry case to consistently do it, but here’s some observations, made while testing on a statewide township layer-

If the select shape is more than, for instance, 20000 feet from any town boundary, no adjacent towns get selected

Towns to the south and west of the selected shape tend to get improperly selected at a longer distance- maybe 15000 feet or so

Towns to the east and north of the selected shape only seem to get erroneously selected within 2500 feet of the shape (sometimes less)

-Now here’s where it really gets interesting:

In the northern part of the state, we have many unorganized townships which are big squares, 6X6 miles. I don’t seem to get any erroneous selections with these.

And, in another application, I am selecting on map quad indexes, which of course are also big squares. Again, I am not getting erroneous selections with these.
-So I’d suspect the geometry has something to do with it? Maybe projections?

We had found a similar bug during testing but we thought we got it. There are some quirks (bugs?) with the MapServer 6.0 querying that were not present in the older versions.

Do you happen to have a specific test case that works consistently to produce the bad result?

I’m having some trouble with the Select Features tool/select.php in GM 2.6. Sometimes it works fine, but at other times it returns too many results listed in the Found Shapes column, and also, too many shapes are highlighted. I am using pretty much default code, other than changing the layer names and items. I have a 0 buffer set. At first I thought I was drawing a shape too close to a boundary, but on closer inspection, this does not appear to be the case. Any ideas?
