[Geomoose-users] Public facing GeoMoose sites as examples.

If your data is plotting but not at the expected position then that usually
indicates it is a projection problem. Make sure your mapbbok.xml is using
the correct projection parameter, which is near the top of the mapbook.xml.

How far off are they?

Hi Ed

I am not winning and I am not giving up, i get lost on the MAPBOOK.XML. I
have attched my new mapfile and the shapefile. I have used Qgis to create a
mapfile. The only problem i have is that shapefile doesn't fall where i
want it to be (may be the problem is Mapbook

Thank you

Solly,

When I first started using Geomoose I would take baby steps in modifying the
working version, the steps below may help you in getting started using your
own data. After each step test Geomoose and see if it is still working.

1. Copy Geomoose folder to somewhere else, so you can restore the
original files if something goes wrong.

2. Configure Geomoose to zoom to your area of extents and setting the
background to your Google layer of choice.

3. Copy the Parcels MAP file and rename it

4. Modify new MAP file contents to suit your needs

a.       EXTENT

b.      UNITS

c.       PROJECTION

d.      LAYER -> NAME

e.      LAYER -> DATA

f.        LAYER -> TYPE

5. Refer to http://geomoose.org/howto/layer.html for the items below

6. In MAPBOOK.XML, copy the map-source section for the parcels layer
and rename it

7. In MAPBOOK.XML, in the layer catalog section copy the parcels layer
and rename it

Hi Bob

My projection is WGS 84 and I will attach a shapefile .

I will be using google as a background and I have tried to use Qgis to
create a mapfile using the data I sent to you as a test but I dont know
where to change inside geomoose folders in order to view my data being
overlapped with Google

Thank you again for responding to my emails

Solly,

The Geomoose website has documentation on it to help you get started, see
the following pages.

http://geomoose.org/docs/projections.html

http://geomoose.org/howto/layer.html

What projection is your data?

What will you be using as a background? Google, Bing, etc.

What format is your data?

Bob,

A client of mine, who is a water and sewer authority, has a GM 2.4 setup but
unfortunately it is not a public facing. I put together a GeoMoose
application to keep track of all their water and sewer information which
includes, as-built drawings, sanitary sewer videos, pipe sizes,invert
elevations, etc. I could provide a screen shot if needed.
