Dear all,
few notes on GeoNode improvements on master (aka development) branch wich
we would like to port soon.
First of all about the PR:
==================
The PR https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/pull/3674 is a cumulative PR
meant to allow you to test the new features all together.
This is not meant to be merged, but it should be used to test and create
fixes accordingly.
Please, read the PR description in order to understand what have been
improved.
There are important fixes on security. In particular major protection of
Proxies that were exposed to several weakness before (CSFR attacks, man in
the middle, and others...)
Django 1.11
=========
The most interesting improvement is about Django version. That PR allows
GeoNode to work against the latest Django 1 series version.
Currently this arised a couple of severe issues on GeoNode. Basically old
versions somehow did not handle correctly celery and messages. With the
update those now work as expected and evidenced some issues on the workflow
that were hidden before.
Almost all of them have been fixed. Fixes have been applied on all the
codebase.
Issues preventing to upgrade to Django 1.11
==================================
Currently all the old tests have been improved and adapted.
There is a blocker on qgis-server integration. It seems mostly an issue
with travis scripts (or paver). Basically the live instance of qgis seems
to not be active during travis tests.
This should be fixed soon, or qgis-server downgraded to contrib module and
disabled by default.
Please send comments and feedbacks.
Regards,
Alessio Fabiani
