Dear Pieter,
not all of the content has been backported to the new docs yet.
Find an overview here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oXoRyCqtTHCclCO1ed5PfWiW_skafGU2i5w-BNWRT4s/edit#gid=0 <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oXoRyCqtTHCclCO1ed5PfWiW_skafGU2i5w-BNWRT4s/edit#gid=0>
However you can find these topics in old trainings:
https://training.geonode.geo-solutions.it/003_users_workshop/007_using_geonode_w_other_applications/index.html#use-geonode-with <https://training.geonode.geo-solutions.it/003_users_workshop/007_using_geonode_w_other_applications/index.html#use-geonode-with>
Note:
With QGIS, you would now use the proxified URL http://your-geonode/gs <http://your-geonode/gs>
which accepts basic auth headers for viewing private layers.
With WFS you should be able to alter data as well.
Cheers,
Toni
