[GeoNode-users] windows ldap

Chris, I connected yesterday to an LDAP with geonode, it was linux but I
doubt this is an OS issue. There are a couple of things I would
recommend. First check and make sure your dependencies are all there and
available to the user running geonode. On your geonode server enter the
python command line and do 'import ldap' and 'from django_auth_ldap.config
import LDAPSearch'. Make sure that works. Then make sure you can connect
to your ldap server, test this via command line here is an article on how
you do that
<http://serverfault.com/questions/452935/how-to-test-a-ldap-connection-from-a-client>
make
sure you use the same parameters you are using in the django app, it looks
to me that some of your ldap variables are incorrect (formatting). After
you confirm that you can connect to your directory and your dependencies
are there test using the django installed server (python manage.py
runserver). The code below is how I connected and has some error flags that
will clearly tell, if there is an error and what it is. In my case I had
an ssl issue which I resolved with the ldap.set_option().

DEBUG=True

import ldap
from django_auth_ldap.config import LDAPSearch
ldap.set_option(ldap.OPT_X_TLS_CACERTFILE,'directory/that/has/cert/mycert.crt')

AUTHENTICATION_BACKENDS = (
    'django_auth_ldap.backend.LDAPBackend',
    'django.contrib.auth.backends.ModelBackend',
    'guardian.backends.ObjectPermissionBackend',
)

LDAP_SEARCH_DN = 'CN=users,dc=xxx,dc=xxx'
AUTH_LDAP_USER = '(cn=%(user)s)'
AUTH_LDAP_BIND_DN = 'CN=xxx,CN=Users,DC=xxx,DC=xxx'
AUTH_LDAP_BIND_PASSWORD = 'xxxx'
AUTH_LDAP_USER_ATTR_MAP = {
    'first_name': 'givenName', 'last_name': 'sn',
}

AUTH_LDAP_USER_DN_TEMPLATE = "cn=%(user)s,cn=users,dc=xxx,dc=xxx"

AUTH_LDAP_CONNECTION_OPTIONS = {
        ldap.OPT_DEBUG_LEVEL: 0,
        ldap.OPT_REFERRALS: 0,
}
