I guess it is normal with the old authentication system. It is based on cookies. Therefore if you do not match exactly the same domain it won't work.

Alessio Fabiani.

I checked it out, in the gui you attached I have not the second line (i.e. geonode-rest) in 'Role services'.

So I made this test:

I had to reinserted in config.xml (security/auth/geonodeAuthProvider), <baseurl>http://my_master_site_hostname/</baseurl>.

In this way, once I login from master geosite, I'm able from the menu to enter in geoserver administrator role,

by the way if I try to enter in geoserver from one of the geosites I cannot enter in geoserver as admin, I see the geoserver page

and all the layers in preview but unloged. I neither login with geonode nor geoserver credential.

Can you double check that you do not have the geonode role service enabled? If so, try to remove it completely.

https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/blob/2.6.x/geonode/contrib/geosites/README.md

Moreover as pointed in the documentation for a normal installation I set in web.xml

<context-param>
    <param-name>GEONODE_BASE_URL</param-name>
    <param-value>http://localhost/</param-value>
</context-param>

where <param-value> is the url of the master geosite.

In pre-setting.py, local_setting.py I have in contrib/geosites I leave geoserver internal URL
as default (http://localhost:8080/geoserver).

In the webserver virtualhost the proxy for geoserver is set as follow:

ProxyPreserveHost On
    ProxyPass /geoserver http://localhost:8080/geoserver
    ProxyPassReverse /geoserver http://localhost:8080/geoserver

Where am I wrong?

E.

Mmm, the process seems correct to me.

If you need to keep the old authentication, you can also remove all the geofence JARs from WEB-INF/lib. In that case you won't need to deal with GeoFence stuff.

Hi Alessio,

I lost my self among many attempts, so I started again:

  * I deployed geoserver2.10 with my backuped data dir
  *   I checked:

     *   security\auth\geonodeAuthProvider
     *   security\filter\geonodeAnonymousFilter
     *   security\filter\geonodeCookieFilter

and they seem ok.

  * restarted tomcat and I got: host parameter is null

I think this should be due to the different default setting of the authentication provider, what about?
My next step was to insert the data dir from the link you gave me http://build.geonode.org/geoserver/latest/ (data-2.10.x.zip)
and modify config.xml in security/auth/geonodeAuthProvider, I set the <baseurl>empty.
By the way in this way I went to the geoserver UI directly to set-up the authentication as the test version.
I was able to modify the 'authentication providers' in the 'Authentication, from provider chain I moved geonodeAuthProvider in Selected and I promote it at second place.
The I tried to modify 'data' since the well running geoserver test version has *.*.r * and *.*.w * whereas the geoserver 2.10 has *.*. r
and *.*. w GROUP_ADMIN,ROLE_ADMIN,ADMIN
If I tried to modify *.*. r I got this problem:

org.apache.wicket.WicketRuntimeException: Error attaching this container for rendering: [Palette [Component id = palette]]
Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: An error occurred while getting the model object for Component: [Palette [Component id = palette, page = org.geoserver.security.web.data.EditDataAccessRulePage, path = 11:form:roles:palette.Palette, isVisible = true, isVersioned = false], children = [Recorder [Component id = recorder]][Choices [Component id = choices]][Selection [Component id = selection]][PaletteButton [Component id = addButton]][PaletteButton [Component id = removeButton]][PaletteButton [Component id = moveUpButton]][PaletteButton [Component id = moveDownButton]][PaletteButton [Component id = addAllButton]][PaletteButton [Component id = removeAllButton]][Component id = availableHeader][Component id = selectedHeader]]
Am I going in the right direction or am I losing time?
In the latter case, maybe it would be batter to downgrade to 2.9.x?

What can you suggest?

E.

Hmm, I'd suggest to get a copy of your old data dir and see if GeoServer is able to update it automatically.

In theory the only issues you should have should be on the "data/security". You can replace just this folder with the 2.10.x one from "http://build.geonode.org/geoserver/latest/" and than tune up the security configuration later from the GeoServer GUI.

The old GeoNode Authentication Providers still exist on the GeoServer distribution. You just need to diable the oauth2 providers and adjust the providers priority. You can use as a template an existent old running 2.7 version and do changes from GeoServer Admin GUI accordingly to that one.

Alessio Fabiani.

Mmm, in theory old providers should work. You will need to to set them manually. Maybe just upgrading the data dir from 2.7 should work with minor changes.

>From your stack trace it looks like there is a configuration issue. That's strange since geofence should use by default a file base db.

Can you double check geofence properties on you geoserver data dir?

Hello Eugenio,
pay attention, GeoServer 2.10.x version works against the new OAuth2 authentication.

However, try to enter on geoserver ui with the internal geoserver administrator (from the form insert admin / ****), go to geofence rules and add (if not exists) a new one with all defaults (ALLOW anything to all).

Best Regards,
Alessio Fabiani.

Hi Alessio,

I needed to update again the geonode geoserver.

I started from your suggestion wrote on the email below, so I downloaded geoserver 2.10 (instead 2.9 you pointed).

I thought were same procedure update from 2.7.x to 2.9.x but probably I'm wrong. I'm having some authentication problems,

here the log output:

https://paste.ubuntu.com/24305552/

for what I understood the main issues are:

2017-04-03 10:15:26,481 WARN [geonode.security] - Error connecting to the GeoNode server for authentication purposes

2017-04-03 10:16:50,156 WARN [geofence.internal] - GeoFence was not able to find any matching user on Security Context amd Services.

2017-04-03 10:16:50,218 ERROR [geoserver.ows] -
org.geoserver.platform.ServiceException: Could not find layer geonode:hypo_density_clipped
... and others related to other layers

I would remember that I'm working with a geosites configuration, which needs to leave blank the <baseUrl> in config.xml of auth/geonodeAuthProvider

What am I missing?

cheers

Eugenio

Oggetto: I: [Geoserver-users] data dir migration from 2.7.x to 2.9.x

I checked the contents of the security directories/files between those you suggested in data-2.9.zip and those I had in my 2.7 data dir.

I just insert the right baseurl in the geonodeAuthProvider/config.xml and it works.

Now I have geonode 2.4 stable with geonode 2.9-snapshot.

I can confirm that layers that had the border (due to tne reprojection on the fly) are well represented!!

So changing the geoserver version solved the issue.

Thank you

E.

Hi Eugenio,

try to replace the following "security" folders of your GeoServer data dir with the one here http://build.geonode.org/geoserver/latest/data-2.9.x.zip (backup the old ones first):

1. security\auth\geonodeAuthProvider
2. security\filter\geonodeAnonymousFilter
3. security\filter\geonodeCookieFilter

Later make sure to redo manually the GeoNode authentication filter configuration settings on the new security folder (just do a diff of XML files and be sure the GeoNode and GeoServer URLs are correct)

Best Regards,
Alessio Fabiani.

Plugins are version specific, I'd suggest you check with the GeoNode developers if there is a version compatible
with GeoServer 2.9 and see if there is any upgrade procedure you have to follow to use it

Cheers
