[GeoNode-users] Directory uploaded/layers: Can it be cleaned?

Dear All --

I am wondering about the directory:

/var/www/geonode/uploaded/layers

I don't find much about it in the docs, but it is
clear that all uploaded layers are stored here,
in their original form.

My question is: What happens if the filed are deleted
from "uploaded/layers"? This directory is growing
fast and I would like to reclaim the disk space.
