NOTE vanilla GeoServer 2.15.1 WAR can be downloaded from:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/geoserver/files/GeoServer/2.15.1/geoserver-2.15.1-war.zip/download

It works with OpenJDK 8, you can just update the WAR you already have of
GeoServer 2.14.x the DATA_DIR are compatible otherwise, you can use

 - empty data dir:
https://build.geo-solutions.it/geonode/geoserver/latest/data-2.15.x.zip
or

 - data dir containing some GeoServer release default workspaces and
layers:
https://build.geo-solutions.it/geonode/geoserver/latest/data-2.15.x-osgeolive.zip
