[GeoNode-users] CREATE layers via API

Hi list,

I would like to automatize the population of a GeoNode repo.
Looking at the docs [1], it *looks like* the exposed REST API does not
support the creation of a layer from existing file.

For instance, can I HTTP-POST with a shapefile as an attachment?
(How should I provide authentication btw?)
