I believe I've sorted this out in the deb package, but my sponsor hasn't
uploaded it I think because of the pending c++ ABI transition. You can
get the 2.1.2 package source from
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/geos/
unpack it with
dpkg-source -x geos_2.1.2-1.dsc
and build it with
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot
