Comment (by mdavis):

 Not sure what's going wrong in GEOS.  Possibly a robustness error causes
 some of the result components to be omitted (which is of course a bug).

 The good news is that the forthcoming OverlayNG handles this using
 snapping.  This is a good test case to add to the corpus.
