Installing Xgrass

A couple of queries about installing Xgrass, for any old hands.

The directory structure, as obtained from the moon, looks like thus :

-rw-rw-r--   1 cocvc    co         34365 Dec 10 09:40 MANIFEST
-rwxr-xr-x   1 cocvc    co          5455 Dec 10 10:26 Makefile
-rw-rw-r--   1 cocvc    co          6214 Dec 10 09:40 Makefile.SH
drwx------   2 cocvc    co          1024 Dec 10 09:40 app-defaults
-rwxr-xr-x   1 cocvc    co           824 Dec 10 10:24 config.sh
drwx------   2 cocvc    co          1024 Dec 10 10:22 configure
drwx------  22 cocvc    co          1024 Dec 10 09:41 help
drwx------   2 cocvc    co          2048 Dec 10 09:41 lib
drwx------   2 cocvc    co          3072 Dec 10 09:42 xclip
drwx------  17 cocvc    co          1024 Dec 10 09:41 xgrass

<config.sh> has been created by running <configure/Setup>. Note that there is
also an <xgrass/include> directory, but not a <lib/help> directory. <Makefile>
has been created by running <Makefile.SH>, and contains these definitions :

INSTALLROOT=$installroot
XG_LIB_DIR=$installroot/lib
XG_INC_DIR=$installroot/include
XG_CONFIG_DIR=$installroot/configure
XG_BIN_DIR=$installroot/bin
XG_HELP_DIR=$installroot/lib/help

So, I am expecting the compilation to create 3 directories, <bin>, <include>,
and <lib/help>. I'm slightly nervous that <include> and <help> directories
already exist in other places. The compilation has already bombed once, and
although the diagnostics are unintelligible, there look to be problems finding
files. Also, I'm on a HP-9000-750, and have nominated the default 'bsd'
operating system to <configure/Setup>. Any advice about possible traps there,
like compile or load flags?
