Problem with G_ask_cell_old

Hi there,

I seem to be having a problem with the G_ask_cell_old function.
When I do a scanf from the stdin (to read an integer value) 
and then call this function to open an existing an raster file, then it does 
not allow me to enter any map name. The input becomes a null string and the
programs exits saying raster file not found.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could point out where
I am going wrong ?
