With other files it is, e.g:
cvs status -v grass/README
   Existing Tags:
	releasebranch_14_august_2001_5_0_0	(branch: 1.12.4)
	release_grass500pre1_20_may_2001	(revision: 1.12)
	devices_cleanup_20000420 	(revision: 1.12)
	releasebranch_11_april_2001_5_0_0	(branch: 1.12.2)
...



Now I will dig into the history command options to find out
what actions caused this behaviour.
