[GRASS5] Regarding specifing projections and (NEWS) in newlocation

To others,
I will answer this directly as this is more of a users question than developers question, but for the developers
this shows one basic issue that I have observed with other new users (especially those comming from the ESRI
world and not having sound GIS/cartographic background) -
people have quite a bit of difficulty with GRASS start-up asking them to set-up location.
I believe that a TCltk interface to that with a short text explanation what it is all about should solve it.
And we will have some tutorials and literature available hopefuly soon for those who need it.
I would like to stress that I like how GRASS has the data organized by location and mapset - it is blessing
for me that GRASS is forcing me to have my projects nicely oragnized and I can even find from mapsets
who has done what for projects many years old - so I am a strong advocate
for keeping this basic structure, it just needs to be made a little bit easier to define - in particular,
typing the coordinates and moving around the entries in the region setting is realy awkward.
Wasn't there a plan to do that some time ago (did we lose Justin?), I haven't seen it addressed in 5.1 agenda
just my comment - no need to answer

> Hi as i got ur mail and i am happy to know that proper support from grass is provided to users. As u know i am new to grass let me tell you that i am a software engineer and i ve been working on software like Arcview, mapinfo if we talk about gis and basically my main job is to develop applications over it for very sophisticated users. As u might be aware that in arcview or mapinfo we dont have to suggest any north, east, west, south (i.e how much my map will cover on earth). But in grass we have to define it.Though i gaved some random newsand it did opened but i am not happy as i dont know what exactly should be entered in that.So i have certain question please explain them to me in detail as i think this will be very basic before i start working on GRASS5.

Now in general terms used in gis we call a raster file to something that is a normal image and over which we digitize .But here i think in grass its different it is stated in a manual that "It is the heart and soul of grass" though i studied about it and i have understood it also please tell me something more about it in detail
