[GRASS5] Bad Fifo! - Mac OS X

Jeshua,

Yes, that fifo.1a listing looks correct. And the 'p'
at the start of the permissions indicated that it was
correctly created as a FIFO file.

I think that not all of the needed routines (like
d.mon routines) got recompliled when you updated
io.c. I also think that I should have included that
vital information in my previous email. There are a
lot of grass routines that use the raster library
routines.

To make sure that the routines that need the libraster
updates get recompiled, you can use the README.ipc
script. I have used this to set up the IPC
configuration, but it also has an option to return to
the normal (FIFO) configuration. To do this, in the
grass root dir:

.README.ipc -f orig

That should force everything back to the normal
configuration. Note that this version of README.ipc
has probably not been exhaustively tested. Another
option is to clean up and recompile from scratch, eg.

make clean
make

This will take longer, but should get rid of any code
that's still linked to the IPC version of the raster
library routines.

Hopefully, your next message will tell us of your
success!
