[GRASS5] [bug #754] (grass) zlib not found

Linux distro: RedHat
linux cpu: Intel (i486, i586, pentium ...)
Xwindows version: Xfree 4.0.x
Xwindows manager: KDE 1.x
TclTk version: I don't know
grass downloaded at: Hannover site
grass binary for platform: Linux/Intel binaries
grass sources source: yes, I am using the latest GRASS from CVS

I am a first time grass user and I have experienced some problems installing it. When I run the ./configure command, the following message appears:

could not find zlib (or something like that)

However, the zlib is correctly installed in the /usr/lib dir
