Dear developers,

the time has come to arrange a "GRASS Developers Workshop" later
this year. The ITC-irst intends to support the meeting and may offer
travel grants for a limited number of participants. The workshop
shall take place in Trento, Italy, end of October:

  GRASS Developers Workshop
  "MILESTONES FOR GRASS DEVELOPMENT"
  26-29. October 2001

  ITC-irst
  SSI - MPA group
  Via Sommarive, 18
  38050 Trento (Povo)
  Italy
  http://mpa.itc.it

Our idea is to arrange two main sessions surrounding a weekend. The
included weekend may support some of you to attend to the workshop.
ITC-irst can provide machines installed with the usual development tools for
coding sessions.

The draft sessions outline is available at:
http://mpa.itc.it/grassdev_meeting2001.html

In GRASS CVS site a short "milestones" paper is available describing the
needs for GRASS 5.1.0 which have been collected so far
(documents/grass51milestones.html). This document is also available online
at: http://grass.itc.it/grass51/index.html

Please update/correct/reorder/extend this document in case of errors or
missing issues.

OUR FIRST QUESTIONS FOR NOW
 1. WHO is interested to participate in the meeting,
 2. who needs partial/complete support for travel (amounts) and
    accommodation.

We know that not too much time is left 'till end of October but we don't
want to postpone this important meeting.

We will try to support this meeting, which I think it is urgent and crucial
under many aspects, and of course the financial background is limited. Any
additional support will be welcomed.

Please contact me (Markus) directly in terms of above questions.

Kind regards

  Markus Neteler
