O.k., I have changed all scripts. Now the snapshot tarballs contain
a unique directory, e.g.

tar tvfz grass50src_cvs_snapshot_exp_2002_04_17.tar.gz 
-rw-r--r-- neteler/grass  4759 2002-03-01 05:12:19 grass50_exp_2002_04_17/aclocal.m4
drwxr-xr-x neteler/grass     0 2002-02-13 11:35:25 grass50_exp_2002_04_17/ALPHA64/
drwxr-xr-x neteler/grass     0 2002-02-13 11:35:25 grass50_exp_2002_04_17/ALPHA64/CVS/

... the same for 5.1.
