It's not that big a deal. If I were doing another big merge, I'd just
check out everything with -kk. Keyword substitution is only really
important for generating source tarballs.

The worst case is $Log$, as the effects aren't restricted to the line
containing the keyword. In all other cases, you can use "diff -I ..." 
to ignore differences caused by keyword substitution.
