I think the third one looks best; at a quick glance the second seems to
imply there are discrete divisions. All 3 could be improved by having the
numbers aligned on the right instead of the left, or I suppose, placing
the numbers and the ticks on the left-hand side of the legend so they are
naturally aligned on the right. This would make the minus signs more
prominent. But maybe that has already been tried.
