The change on 13th July didn't affect the status of this pre-existing bug; 
it just fixed another one ($(GMATHLIB) also needed to be included in 
EXTRA_LIBS).

Are you sure this is the correct fix? I'm not saying that it's not, just 
that I didn't do that at the time I made the other changes as I wasn't sure
why the library needed to call G_site_put(). I thought v.surf.rst had been 
fully updated to 5.7 a long time ago and it used vector files, not sites. 
In any case it writes a raster as its output so it shouldn't need to write 
a sites file (the way I'm thinking about it).

I thought perhaps there was some old code from 5.3 being linked in that 
shouldn't have been, and meant to bring it up on the developers' list so 
somebody could look into it in more detail, but I forgot.
