[GRASS5] [bug #2841] (grass) crash during new location creation

Subject: crash during new location creation

Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass obtained from: CVS
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: cvs-20041212

When I try to create a new location, I get up to the point where I enter a  one line description and when I then press enter, I get:

ERROR: default region is invalid
       line 13: <cols3: 0>

and GRASS crashes.

I have had this happen both with a lat-long and with an x-y location.
