I did and it doesn't work either, i.e. the links in grass-5.7.0/include
are again to ../grass-5.3.0 and not to ../../grass-5.3.0.

I solved the problem by replacing the relative path for

#path to GRASS 5.3 source code
GRASS53SRC=

to an absolute path.
