Subject: v.in.gshhs out of memory error

Platform: WindowsNT/2000/XP
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries

Attempting to run v.in.gshhs with even very small bounds on the smallest of the datasets the program bails stating Out of memory.
