[GRASS5] ps.map segfaults

^^^^^ compiled from source, not the Debian package right?
works fine for me. (Debian/testing; compiled from source)
next lines for me are:
PS-PAINT: reading vector file <roads in PERMANENT> ...

PS-PAINT: reading point/line file ...
PS-PAINT: reading text file ...
PS-PAINT: creating color table for <soils in PERMANENT> ...

what about other operations with the roads vector? v.info, d.vect etc?
here's an idea: how old is your data set? maybe need to run
"v.build.all" if it is more than a few months old?
