Sorry I don't have anything easily availale (away from my
home computer right now). You have r.what on your system
right now. For understanding v.what, run d.what.vect with
the -t option for terse.

Not better, just a matter of preference. To me it seems
cleaner, but I don't want to change anything that is going
to break things.
