It is not fixed I'm affraid.

Today's CVS:

$ g.list vect
----------------------------------------------
vector files available in mapset srtm_bil:
first  second

$ v.digit first&

$ v.patch in=first,second out=third
ERROR: Cannot open old vector first at srtm_bil on level 2

       ^^^
       Should be sth like:
       "Cannot open existing vector <first at srtm_bil> on level 2"
       As you suggested in your previous message.
