Subject: v.patch -a doesn't work correctly

Platform: Mac OSX
grass obtained from: Trento Italy site
grass binary for platform: Downloaded precompiled Binaries
GRASS Version: 6.1 CVS May 27 2006

Both in the command line and the tcl menu, attempting a v.patch using the -a option fails. If I put in the command

v.patch input=aouzou87 output=ESRI1988 -a

...then I get (no matter where I put the -a flag)...

Error: option <output>: <ESRI1988> exists.

But of *course* it exists--I want to use the append option.
v.patch behaves normally if you use a different name for the output and skip the -a flag. The workaround is to g.remove and g.rename.

This error occurs on the Mac OS X builds for May 20 and May 27. It also occurs in the GNU Linux x86 build (from source). I am running Mac OS X 10.4.6 (ppc) and Gentoo Linux (2.6.16-r7 kernel).

Thanks!
