The link to your conversation with Frank didn't post properly, though.
I verified the ogrinfo command below. This documentation indeed is tricky, I
would have never thought from reading it that you must enter in datasource
AND layer - this is conterintuitive, at least for me; specifying one
parameter should print all info, IMHO.

Eric,
this also confused me - but it's the usage of ogrinfo
(I didnÃ't manage to convince Frank to change that, see our
recent GDAL-ML communication):
Try instead:
ogrinfo -so 45256600_h_r.shp 45256600_h_r
then you'll see the proj info.
