If that warning needs to exist at all, it should check to see if the monitor
command list is empty or there are no raster maps displayed (eg d.what.rast)
before doing so.

Otherwise it is unneeded noise in the terminal whenever you use the color
white for something -- which may make a more important error message harder to
spot.
