I think "cap" is short for capabilities, i.e. you are showing the 
"capabilites" of all the fonts - although TBH it is really just a list.
As far as I can think the name is more relevant for monitorcap - monitor 
capabilities, but *cap is just kind of a Unix convention for those sorts 
of file I think. fontlist sounds OK too though.
