the multiplier in d.out.file is only useful for defining the bounding
box size of .eps output. That is why it (and size=) are in the Images
tab, not the general options tab- with .ps output they are not used.

a0-a4 are all perfectly proportional, you might "print" bigger then
scale down?

I think for book screenshots the PNG driver is still your best bet.
(e.g. nicest fonts, no 0-width line problems like PS driver, etc)
